Frequently Asked Questions about Wings® Software

What is web-based software?
Web-Based Software is software you use over the internet with a web browser. There is no need to install any CDs, download any software, or worry about upgrades. If you use an online bank or web-based email program like Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo Mail then you’ve already used web-based software before.
Why is it better for my firm?
When you use Wings® you don’t have to worry about anything technical — you just do your work. We handle the security, backups and upgrades, the “IT guy” stuff. You stay focused on what you’re good at and we do the rest.
Why web-based software is safer?
With traditional software, users save data on their laptops, USB drives, or portable hard drives. It’s not as safe as it sounds. Laptops are stolen, computers are rarely backed up properly, and it’s unlikely everyone’s machines are up to date with the latest security patches and updates. When you use our Wings® software, your data is stored on secure, updated, and backed-up daily enterprise-class servers in a state-of-the-art, highly-secure data center.
Is my data automatically backed up daily?
Your data is backed up every day. Our backups are stored in multiple locations for additional redundancy. You could say our backups have backups. We’ve never lost anyone’s data and we won’t lose yours.
Is my data safe and secure with you?
Our state-of-the-art servers are protected by biometric locks and 24-hour surveillance. Our software and infrastructure is updated regularly with the latest security patches. The traffic on our network flows behind an enterprise-class firewall to keep your data safe.
Does my software have the latest updates?
Unlike traditional software that requires you to download and install updates yourself, Wings® is updated automatically. Whenever you use our products you’re always using the latest and greatest version.
What do I have to install?
With Wings® there’s nothing to download or install. Just log in with the web-browser you already have (Internet Explorer, Safari, or Chrome). It’s just like your online bank or web-based email program.
Does everyone I trust have access to the data?
Since everyone you work with logs into the same centralized account, you have a single database with everything in one place. No more worrying about who has the latest information: Everyone has it.
Can I work from home, work, or on the road?
When you use Wings® your office is everywhere. At work, at home, a hotel, at a client’s office, even on your mobile phone. Your data is accessible anywhere with internet access.
Is my data protected?
All data is written to multiple disks instantly, backed up daily, and stored in multiple locations. Files that our customers upload are stored on servers that use modern techniques to remove bottlenecks and points of failure. Our servers – from power supplies to the internet connection to the air purifying systems – operate at full redundancy. Our systems are engineered to stay up even if multiple servers fail.
What about Physical Security?
Our state-of-the-art servers are protected by biometric locks and round-the-clock interior and exterior surveillance monitoring. Only authorized personnel have access to the data center. 24/7/365 onsite staff provides additional protection against unauthorized entry and security breaches.
Is the infrastructure regularly updated?
Our software infrastructure is updated regularly with the latest security patches. Our products run on a dedicated network which is locked down with firewalls and carefully monitored. While perfect security is a moving target, we work with security researchers to keep up with the state-of-the-art in web security.
Are your facilities HIPPA compliant?
Our facilities are HIPPA compliant and meet both the current SAS 70 Type II 1Certification and the upcoming SSAE 16 (The highest level). The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was implemented to protect the confidentiality and integrity of electronic personal health information. Being HIPAA compliant means virtual and physical configurations – from networks and servers to virtual machines and security infrastructure-must be maintained and assessed against HIPAA policies, and proven in the event of an audit.

For organizations with highly sensitive business data, traditional hosting solutions often are not sufficient. These companies generally require the services of a hosting firm operating out of an SAS 70 Type II certified data center facility. States on Auditing Standards No.70, most commonly referred to as SAS 70, is a global auditing standards created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Service providers that obtain this certification have met the strict standards by passing a thorough audit of their control objectives and activities, including the controls that preside over information technology and various other related technologies. These audits are performed by reputable independent bodies that ensure the policies needed to comply with SAS 70 are valid and enforced.
